Resellers may fully customize their Internet hosting offerings
by using our Virtual Name Servers. Virtual Name Servers
are aliases to our primary and secondary name servers.
Without
Virtual Name Servers, your clients who perform "whois"
lookups on your domain names will see our default name
server information instead of your own. Their lookup results
will report the following information:
NS1.Interservers.com
NS2.Interservers.com
With
Virtual Name Servers, a "whois" lookup will report your
own company's name and information instead of ours. You
can choose to have your domain aliases for our name servers
as Virtual Name Servers. Then, a "whois" lookup will report
results like these:
NS1.YOUR-DOMAIN.NAME
NS2.YOUR-DOMAIN.NAME
Your
Virtual Name Servers will not be recognized as valid name
servers until they are registered. Upon confirmation of
your Virtual Name Server order, you will need to register
them individually with the registrar of the "root" domain
name that is used for the Virtual Name Servers. Basically
this means that you will need to go back to the registrar
you used to register your domain name and register the
virtual name server there.
The
name servers will be ready to use once you get confirmation
from the registrar of the root domain that the name servers
have been registered. If you do not know whom the registrar
of your domain name is, please contact our service department
(service@iserver.com) for assistance.
Qualifications
You must have a registered domain name that you would
like to use as the root domain for the Virtual Name Server
(such as NS1.YOUR-DOMAIN.NAME in the example above).
This domain must be added to your account before it can
be used as the root domain. Any domain you have currently
registered can be used as the root domain name.
Note:
If you currently have virtual nameservers at another host
and you would like to move all of your domains to us at
once, you will need to use the names of your existing
nameservers when you sign up. If you do not intend to
move all at once but want to move your domains to us gradually,
you should use nameserver names other than the names of
the current nameservers.
